Fuad Arifhodžić Legacy

In 2015, the Art Collection of the Bosniak Institute – Adil Zulfikarpašić Foundation was further enriched with 30 paintings by Fuad Arifhodžić. These works, along with the complete archival material documenting the artist's life and career, were generously donated to the Institute by his son, Ambassador Nerkez Arifhodžić. Fuad Arifhodžić's distinctive artistic expression, characterized by an impressionistic lightness and poetic use of color, is especially evident in his watercolors that predominantly feature Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. His work gained international recognition in 1985 when UNICEF printed his watercolor Roofs of Sarajevo in Winter in millions of copies.

Gradimir Gojer wrote in the text of the exhibition catalog on the occasion of the formation of the Legacy: “The creation of a legacy, a collection of the artist’s works under the professional, culturally precise auspices of the Bosniak Institute is not only an enrichment of the artistic reality of Sarajevo and BiH, but in this case it is not a cult, but a culturally precise relationship to the painting oeuvre of Arifhodžić, as a symbol of a painting epoch in Sarajevo.”
