OTHER COLLECTIONS

Numismatic collection

The Bosniak Institute possesses a beautiful and significant initial collection of coins related to Bosnia, covering a period of 1700 years. Chronologically, the collection spans from Ancient times (Ancient Rome), the medieval Bosnian state, early and late modern periods, to contemporary times (the period of renewed Bosnian independence after 1992). The collection also includes several examples of orders and medals.

The collection is cataloged and processed, with the catalog available upon request.

Sphragistic (Sigillographic) Collection

The Bosniak Institute possesses an initial collection of seal stamps (stampers) of Ottoman provenance. The collection is divided into three parts:

1.) seal impressions from the captains of Dubica

2.) one seal impression from the area of Meskhetian/Akhiska Turks in present-day Georgia

3.) seal impressions with inscriptions بكر (BKR) and راود or داود (RAVD or DAVD)

The collection includes three types of Ottoman seals (seal rings; small seals – tipari, and medium-sized seals with rotating three-sided seal bodies). It also contains a Kibletnama (Qibla compass).

The collection is cataloged and processed, with the catalog available upon request.

Notaphilia Collection

The Bosniak Institute has a smaller collection of paper means of payment, covering the period from 1876 to 1993. The collection of banknotes and money orders, acquired later, complements this primary collection.

The numismatic and notaphilic value of the collection is significant, offering documentary as well as collectors' value. The paper currency spans approximately 120 years, from the last years of Ottoman rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina to the currency of the independent Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the collection of banknotes and money orders providing documentary value.

The Institute also possesses 24 specimen sheets of Russian Imperial banknotes issued from 1898 to 1910.

The collection is cataloged and processed, with the catalog available upon request.

Postage Stamp Collection

The Bosniak Institute has formed a philatelic collection through purchase, consisting of postage stamps issued between 1993 and 2010 by the PTT traffic company of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its successor BH Pošta. The collection holds both collectors' and documentary value. It is almost a complete collection of postage stamps issued by BH Pošta.

The collection is cataloged and processed, with the catalog available upon request..

All collections are inventoried, cataloged and catalogs are available upon request.
