INSTITUTE TODAY

The Bosniak Institute plays an active role in Bosnian-Herzegovinian society as an innovative and recognized center for research, a place for dialogue and encounters, as well as the promotion and affirmation of science and culture. It engages in cultural, research, publishing, gallery, library, archival, and museum activities, and is open to all visitors, researchers, and scholars interested in topics related to the cultural, social, and political history of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Institute places special emphasis on working with students, developing scholarship programs and student internships, as well as projects that involve young people.
It possesses rich and unique collections available to both experts and the general public: a Library with over 300,000 bibliographic units, a Collection of Oriental-Islamic manuscripts containing 1,662 works in 1,086 codices, an Archive with nearly 20,000 archival units, photographs, and postcards, an Art Collection numbering around 2,000 works, consisting of paintings, drawings, graphics, sculptures, and installations, as well as Ethnological, Numismatic, and Sphragistic collections, along with collections of banknotes and postage stamps.
